Gerard Baker Guide & Expedition Leader
Gerard Baker is a seasoned polar veteran having spent the past 30 years working in polar environments, including four over winters in Antarctica.
He is a senior polar guide. Gerard was born in UK, where he also studied degrees in Zoology and Botany. He has a master's degree in environmental management. When not guiding in Svalbard, Gerard makes documentaries for the BBC on natural history, food and farming and has authored as many as 15 books on a range of subjects from beekeeping to bread.
Gerard is an artist and illustrator who designs postage stamps when he is not on the open ocean. He is a passionate guide who has a huge love for Svalbard's polar history and is very happy to be leading our expeditions.
