Patrik Jonasson Guide

Multi-tasker with many interests, but with the greatest love for birds, animals and nature. Works as a firefighter/rescue-teacher at the Rescue Service Storgöteborg. He also has a vocational teacher's degree from the University of Gothenburg with a focus on healthcare, care and social work.

But it is the love for fauna and flora that has been the greatest passion for Patrik throughout his life. Since a young age his father, ornithologist for over 60 years, has been his mentor and has taken him to several exciting places on earth: Philippines, South Africa, Iceland, India to name a few. Norway has also been a frequent destination for Patrik in recent years, especially to experience all the killer whales and humpback whales as they follow the great migration with herring into the Norwegian fjords.

For several years, Patrik has also worked voluntarily as station manager at the Bird Observatory on Nidingen, a small island off the Swedish west coast. Birds are his greatest interest and it is on Nidingen, among other places, that his knowledge of birds and their lives has occurred. Patrik likes to study birds through his camera lens and is a dedicated nature photographer.

When Patrik is not working, watching birds or taking photographs, he is also a family man. Lives in Gothenburg with his wife Rosmarie and his teenage children Ella & Theo.

Patrik is looking forward to meeting new people on Polarquest's boats and to share animal and bird experiences. "Shared joy is double joy" is one of Patrik's life mottos.
