Ship information M/V Nanook

M/V Nanook (formerly known as Nordsøen) has undergone a journey from a Danish fisheries control and search and rescue ship, to an exquisite Expedition ship, accommodating up to 12 passengers. Nanook has been meticulously refurbished and is all set to embark on unforgettable cruises starting from June 2024.

ON BOARD INFORMATION

 

BRIDGE VISITS

There is an open bridge policy on board and passengers are welcome to visit the bridge. We ask that you respect the captain's orders, especially during difficult ice navigation and mooring.

CABINS

All cabins on board are outside cabins. All cabins have an ensuite toilet and shower with towels, soap, shampoo and hairdryer. Each cabin has a wardrobe, hooks on the wall and a desk with a chair. Cabins are cleaned daily.

COMMUNICATIONS

The ship can be contacted on Iridium Satellite Phone. Please note: There is no Internet access on board. You are likely to have mobile coverage in settlements.

DRESS CODE

As this is an expedition cruise, the dress code on board is informal. Please wear shoes with non-slip soles when moving around the ship.

ELECTRICITY

All sockets are 220 volts with Scandinavian two pin plugs. We recommend that you bring an international adapter if you have equipment that needs charging. Sockets are provided in each cabin.

GRATUITIES

Gratuities are optional and at your discretion. For those who wish to express their appreciation for excellent service, you have the option to leave a tip in cash at the end of your trip (NOK/USD/EUR). If needed, it is also possible to tip with your card.

MONEY MATTERS

A tab of your expenses, such as bar purchases, will be kept throughout the expedition and is payable at the end of the expedition. The currency on board is Norwegian Krone (NOK). Credit cards (VISA and MasterCard) are accepted on board.

MEDICAL

There is no doctor on board. Bridge officers have basic medical training and basic medical supplies are available on board. Passengers undergoing regular treatment or requiring special medication should bring sufficient supplies to last the duration of the expedition. Please also bring a written description of your medication and a copy of your travel insurance.

MEALS

The dining room seats all 12 passengers at once. Our chef prepares three meals a day. Coffee/tea is available throughout the day and snacks are served between meals. Please remember to inform us of any dietary restrictions on your personal information form.

LANGUAGE

Information from our guides on board will be in Swedish and English (unless otherwise agreed or marketed). The crew speaks English.

LOUNGE AND DINING ROOM

There is a nice lounge combined with a dining room on board with panoramic views. There is a small bar with a small selection of wines, spirits, beers and soft drinks. Coffee and tea are available throughout the day. The dining room can seat all 12 passengers. Our chef serves three meals a day. Please remember to let us know if you have allergies. 

LAUNDRY

Laundry can be arranged on board, but to a limited extent and at an extra fee. More information is provided on board. 

SMOKING

A non-smoking policy applies inside the ship. Smoking is only allowed in designated areas out on deck. Please note that it is strictly forbidden to throw cigarettes overboard. Please do not smoke during nature landings. 

SAUNA AND JACUZZI

There is a very nice sauna on board M/V Nanook and you can also enjoy a dip in the Jacuzzi on deck - with the best possible view.

WATER

The water on board is safe to drink.
