M/S Sjøveien (meaning the Seaway) was built in Bergen in 1964 for the Norwegian Government and has worked for them in various capacities. After being a hotel ship for the past few years, she has now been refurbished into a classic and exclusive passenger ship. There are eight outside cabins, all with private facilities, accommodating a maximum of 12 passengers. She is a true beauty with wooden decks and vintage details.Overall length: 40.66 m

FACILITIES ON BOARD
In the lounge you can find a small selection of wine, spirits, beer and soft drinks. Coffee and tea are available around the clock.
There is an open bridge policy on board and passengers are welcome to visit the bridge. We ask you to pay respect to the Captain’s orders, especially during difficult ice navigation and when mooring.
All cabins on board are outside cabins, some with windows and some with portholes. All cabins have private WC and shower equipped with shower soap, hand soap and a hairdryer. Each cabin also has a wardrobe, desk and a chair.
The currency on board the ship is the NOK. Credit cards (VISA, MasterCard, AmEx) are accepted board the ship.
The ship can be contacted on Iridium Satellite Phone. You will receive contact information for the ship together with your final information. Please note: There is no internet access onboard and you will have no reception on your mobile phone during the expedition.
Since we are embarking on an expedition, the dress code on board is informal. We recommend that you bring comfortable, casual clothes that can be layered according to the temperature. We recommend wearing sturdy shoes with rubber or other non-slip soles when moving around inside the ship.
The electrical outlets in your cabins and elsewhere on the ship are 220 volts and Scandinavian two-prong plugs. We recommend that you bring an international adapter if you have devices that need to charge.
Gratuities are discretionary. You are welcome to tip at the end of the voyage, but there are no guidelines or expectations from the crew.
The language on board is Swedish and English. The crew speaks English.
A laundry service is available on board to a limited extent and at extra fee. More information is provided on board.
LOUNGE AND DINING ROOM
Lounge area and dining area are in the same room. Briefings and slide-illustrated lectures will be held in the lounge area which has a sofa, chairs and a screen/TV.
A tab of your expenses, for example bar purchases, will be kept throughout the expedition and will be payable at the end of the expedition. The currency on board the ship is the NOK. Credit cards (VISA, MasterCard, AmEx) are accepted board the ship.
The dining room/mess seats all 12 passengers at once. Our chef will serve you three meals a day. Breakfast and lunch may be served buffet style and dinner will be served at the table. Please remember to inform us of any food restrictions in your personal information form.
There is no physician on board. The officers on the bridge have basic medical training and there are limited medical supplies on board. Passengers under regular treatment or requiring special medication should bring sufficient quantities to last the duration of the expedition. Please also bring a written description of your medication.
A non-smoking policy applies inside the ship. Smoking is only allowed in designated areas out on deck. Please note that it is strictly forbidden to throw cigarettes over board. Please do not smoke during landings.
The water on board is safe to drink.
