Slideshow from Svalbard

Thank you Svalbard!
On our arrival to Svalbard in May we were greeted by a fairytale winter landscape. Walruses and seals were resting on ice floes and the little auks and Brünnich’s guillemots had returned to their summer nests. As the season continued the snow melted, colorful flowers started to decorate the slopes and we were able to do longer hikes. In the surrounding waters we encountered giants as the blue whale and humpback and in the pack ice we could see the king of the Arctic, the polar bear, walking in search of prey. We sailed further east, passed by the impressive glacier front of Bråsvellbreen and went ashore on the legendary White Island. But most of all we enjoyed the magnificent sceneries, the fresh air and the Arctic silence.

Since 1999, we have taken travellers on once-in-a-lifetime trips to Svalbard. From May to September our three small expedition ships, carrying only 12 and 53 passengers, explore this magnificent Arctic archipelago. Unpredictability and flexibility are the main keywords when you travel with PolarQuest as the exact route depends on weather, ice conditions and wildlife encounters. Sometimes you might be woken up in the middle of the night if a polar bear has been spotted on the ice.
