In the middle of September, after four months in the Arctic wilderness, our expedition ships M/S Quest and M/S Stockholm docked in Longyearbyen’s harbour.
We have had a great Svalbard season with more than 30 fantastic expedition cruises. Our travellers have enjoyed breathtaking winter landscapes in May and stunning sunsets in September, they have landed on glistening ice floes under the midnight sun and cruised along impressive glaciers fronts. They have encountered the giants of the sea and seen walrus hauled out on the beaches, they have witnessed the Arctic fox playing on the slopes and seen the king of the Arctic, the polar bear, walking on the pack ice in search of prey.
Enjoy a selection of images from the season!
Since 1999, we have taken travellers on once-in-a-lifetime trips to Svalbard. From May to September our three small expedition ships, carrying only 12 and 53 passengers, explore this magnificent Arctic archipelago. Unpredictability and flexibility are the main keywords when you travel with PolarQuest as the exact route depends on weather, ice conditions and wildlife encounters. Sometimes you might be woken up in the middle of the night if a polar bear has been spotted on the ice.
