From Svalbard to Greenland, and ending in Iceland. Our guide Beau Pruneau sums up an incredible journey aboard M/S Quest, filled with hiking, Zodiac cruising, kayaking and magical wildlife encounters.
After a couple days spent in Svalbard, it was time to head west. With good weather for crossing the Greenlandic Sea, we arrived in a belt of pack ice miles offshore from Greenland after only one day at sea.
Weaving our way through the ice floes for a full day, with much success in scouting for wildlife, it was time to head into the fjords.
Deep into the fjords.
Many days were spent in the North-East Greenland national park, a special area of remoteness that can be hard to grasp.
Patrolled by the Sirius Patrol, a Danish special forces group dedicated to keeping the vast area protected, pristine, and wild.
Afterwards poking our nose into Scoresbysund for the last few days, the largest fjord system in the world.
An incredible expedition, with an amazing amount of wildlife, hikes across vast tundra and up mountain ridges.
Time spent cruising around massive icebergs and glaciers, both by ship and zodiac.
And of course, a record amount of kayaking, including 2 epic all-day paddles with fantastic weather, packed lunches, and big landscapes to engulf us in its entirety.
An expedition highly suitable for a small but sturdy ship like the Quest.
