Starting the Arctic season, we started our journey in rainy Bergen, the rain subsiding as we left the beautiful city behind and made our way through the archipelago of small islands and channels.
Next stop, Øye. Nestled amongst the Sunnmøre Alps, this hidden gem of Norway is home to a beautiful historic hotel, built to accommodate British mountain climbers of yesteryear.
We then passed by Runde, an island with nesting puffins, gannets, razorbills, and common guillemots.
That evening we moored in Ålesund, and the next morning we explored this historic town, hiking up to a viewpoint over the city, and visiting a quaint museum and the old inner harbor.
We then made our way to Grip, a now uninhabited fishing village first settled in the 1100's, and home to one of Norways smallest stave churches, built in 1470.
Torghatten was next on our way, the famous mountain with a hole through it. Said to be caused by a mythical troll saga involving a troll kings hat, another troll kings beautiful daughter, and a troll princes' bow and arrow, we hiked our way through the cave as the clouds started to disperse.
Leaving Torghatten behind with the sun poking it's way through the clouds, we headed northwards, towards the famous Lofoten Islands...
