Alexander Denk

Guide

AAlexander Denk is originally from Munich, Germany, where he grew up spending a lot of time in the mountains. From an early age, he developed a strong connection to nature and hiking, especially long-distance trekking and being out in nature for extended periods of time.

After his physiotherapy studies, he decided to set out on a one-year hike from Tarifa in southern Spain to the North Cape in Norway. When he arrived in Northern Norway, he ended up staying on a Huskyfarm in Innset, where Alexander worked for several years as a guide and gradually got more involved in longer trips and expeditions.

At some point, Alexander felt the need to deepen his understanding of the Arctic environment, so he moved to Svalbard and spent a year studying to become an Arctic Nature Guide. After that, he returned to Northern Norway and continued working on the farm, eventually taking on the role of expedition leader for multi-day dog sledding trips into arctic environments.

Over the years, the Arctic has had a strong influence on Alexander. He is fascinated by the landscape, but even more by all the small stories that are connected to it, the way people have lived, adapted, and found ways to exist in these environments long before modern technology. That’s something he keep noticing and appreciating more the longer he spend in the north.
