Eivind Aksnes
Guide
With more than 20 years of experience in the Arctic, Eivind Aksnes is a highly experienced and respected guide based in Svalbard. He used to be the owner and the manager of the local company Better Moments, he leads a wide range of expeditions, from boat safaris and summer hikes to snowmobile journeys in the winter. Through these experiences, he introduces visitors to the dramatic landscapes of Svalbard, sharing both his deep knowledge and engaging stories about the region’s history and natural environment.
A certified guide, Eivind has completed extensive training to ensure the highest level of safety in this remote and demanding setting, including polar bear safety, glacier rescue, travel on sea ice and in avalanche areas and oH course first aid. His strong understanding of Arctic wildlife, plant life, and geology—combined with his approachable and friendly nature—creates meaningful and memorable experiences for his guests.
Originally serving in the Norwegian army, Eivind first came to Svalbard in 2006 and quickly developed a lasting connection to the region. Within months, he had settled there permanently, and since then has explored much of what the archipelago has to oHer. His experience also extends beyond Svalbard, including expeditions as far north as the North Pole, and he continues to expand his interest in other Arctic regions such as Greenland, Canada and Alaska.
