Patrik Jonasson
Guide
Multi-tasker with many interests, but with the greatest love for birds, animals and nature. Works as an officer at the Fire Brigade in Gothenburg, in the special Hazmat and MIRG unit. The team handles chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear threats in hazardous environments, as well as incidents onboard passenger ships and cargo vessels. Safety, security and consideration are therefore central parts of Patrik’s daily work.
But it is the love for fauna and flora that has been the greatest passion for Patrik throughout his life. Since a young age his father, ornithologist for over 60 years, has been his mentor and has taken him to several exciting places on earth: Philippines, South Africa, Iceland, India to name a few. Norway has also been a frequent destination for Patrik in recent years, especially to experience all the killer whales and humpback whales as they follow the great migration with herring into the Norwegian fjords.
Patrik has also worked voluntarily as station manager at the Bird Observatory in a small island off the Swedish west coast. Birds are his greatest interest. Patrik likes to study birds through his camera lens and is a dedicated nature photographer.
When Patrik is not working, watching birds or taking photographs, he is also a family man. Lives in Gothenburg with his wife Rosmarie and his teenage children Ella & Theo. Patrik is looking forward to meeting new people on Polarquest's boats and to share animal and bird experiences. "Shared joy is double joy" is one of Patrik's life mottos.
