Get to know M/S Stockholm
Our classic gem, M/S Stockholm, is a ship loved by many. This is evident not least in the number of returning guests. Travelling through the enchanting wilderness of Svalbard or the magical fjords of Northern Norway on a ship that carries only 12 passengers offers an unparalleled adventure. This blog post gives you the chance to explore M/S Stockholm in more detail.
Classic ship with maritime history
M/S Stockholm is a listed classic ship built in 1953. It's a marvellous piece of maritime history with beautiful brass details and wooden decks. Every detail is carefully preserved and gently renovated to retain its original splendor.
Enthusiastic crew with many years of experience
Our pride lies not only in the historical heritage of M/S Stockholm, but also in its dedicated crew, whose expertise and passion take each expedition to new heights. With decades of experience in Arctic waters, our enthusiastic team has taken travellers from around the world on unforgettable adventures in the untamed wilderness of Svalbard and the magical fjords of Northern Norway. The bridge is always open for those who want to admire the surrounding landscape or have a word with the captain.
Small ship - great experiences
There are few places on earth where one is so reminded of the smallness of man in relation to the grandeur of nature as in Svalbard. Travelling in a small group makes this experience even more exclusive. M/S Stockholm's modest size allows us to get to hard-to-reach places, explore fjords and maximise time in the wilderness. Boarding the Zodiacs and setting off on excursions is quick and itineraries can be more flexible.
Exciting Zodiac cruises and landings
On board M/S Stockholm there are two knowledgeable guides who will do their utmost to maximise the polar adventure. Additionally, there are two Zodiacs (rubber boats) available for excursions, allowing us to get even closer to the magnificent nature. Our aim is to make daily Zodiac cruises and go ashore whenever possible.
Scout for wildlife on deck
On deck, there's plenty of space to scout for wildlife and capture magical moments on camera. Be enchanted by the magnificent polar landscape as it passes by, make memories with new friends among your fellow travellers, or lose yourself in the moment.
Relax in your cabin and in the cosy social areas on board
The dining room seats all 12 passengers at once. The chef serves three meals a day: breakfast, lunch (buffet) and dinner (table service). There is also a cosy lounge/bar where you can relax between excursions, listen to interesting lectures or enjoy a drink in the evening.
Please note: We always follow strict wildlife guidelines to ensure that we do not cause any disturbance.
Destinations

Since 1999, we have taken travellers on once-in-a-lifetime trips to Svalbard. From May to September our three small expedition ships, carrying only 12 and 50 passengers, explore this magnificent Arctic archipelago. Unpredictability and flexibility are the main keywords when you travel with PolarQuest as the exact route depends on weather, ice conditions and wildlife encounters. Sometimes you might be woken up in the middle of the night if a polar bear has been spotted on the ice.
