Another successful expedition done, and so another begins. This time we headed north from Longyearbyen. First exploring the north-west corner of Spitzbergen, with its iconic landscapes doused in flat calm reflections.
The first walruses hauling out on melted sandy beaches, with patches of snow still reaching near the shoreline.
Harbour seals perched on their comfortable soft rocks at low tide, calmly watching as we gently cruised by.
A female polar bear walking along the fast ice, ignoring us as we continued onwards towards the north-east.
Pack ice.


And also the first icebergs being released from their winter freeze in the sea ice, drifting their way out into open seas and to their eventual demise of melt.
Arctic foxes, some still in their white winter fur, but slowly changing to their brown and grey summer coats.
Spring is coming...
