M/S Stockholm has wrapped up her Svalbard season and is now heading south towards Northern Norway, where we will continue with our Whales and Northern Lights expeditions. In this blog post, our guide on board, Beau Pruneau, looks back on the final autumn days in the Arctic.
The last one...
The last expedition on Svalbard for 2026.
Time to say goodbye to walruses, polar bears, glaciers, foxes, and reindeer.
Goodbye to the midnight sun.
And while I've crossed from mainland Norway to Svalbard over the Barents Sea in the spring several times before, this was my first expedition crossing southward in the autumn.
First expedition spending time into October in Svalbard.
Short days, and dark nights.
But the light has been insanely beautiful.
And we've had an incredible amount of wildlife.
Now it's time to head south to Northern Norway, where we will soon start the season for whales and aurora borealis.
Orcas and humpback whales.
Northern lights and fjords.
Cozy little Norwegian villages.
Thank you for another amazing season, Svalbard.
Until next year.
Please note: Depending on the lens used for a photo or video shot an animal may appear to be closer than it is. We always follow strict wildlife guidelines to ensure that we do not cause any disturbance.
